ABOUT TRAINER TRASH
SAVE TIME • SAVE PLASTIC • SAVE TRAINERS

INCEPTION
I created Trainer Trash to solve a problem that every parent has on a weekly basis. However, in the process of creating this brand, I’ve realised that Trainer Trash serves a greater purpose. One that truly helps the world.

THE IDEA
-
-
I am a mother of three very active children. Whether it’s rugby, football, athletics, cross-country – you name it they do it – and every week they bring home the mud, sweat and tears.
With my husband working around the world, I naturally had to spin a few plates such as work, after-school activities and managing three rapidly-evolving personalities. To add to that, I found myself constantly cleaning trainers, football and rugby boots, plus the house and car that always succumbed to the mud. I was fed up of rinsing shoes and trainers in the sink, so decided to find a solution!
Now I am no Supermum but if there is a quicker, more efficient way to do something, then I’ll find a way to do it.
This is where Trainer Trash has changed my life!
-
The children now put their trainers and boots in their Trainer Trash washbags (before getting in the car and house) which then goes straight into the washing machine. 30 minutes later, all the dirt is gone and they have a clean pair of trainers ready for the next use – as is the Trainer Trash bag.
When going through the design stage, I really wanted to create a product that not only made the lives of millions of parents infinitely easier, but I also wanted a product that looked great. We made sure the quality of the bags was to a very high-standard so that they could be carried with pride and become a bit of a must-have.
THE GREATER PURPOSE
-
-
After we signed off the Trainer Trash design and created our first batch of products, we started to use Trainer Trash washbags in our household on a regular basis, as did our friends, family and early customers.
One thing we noticed fairly quickly was the lack of plastic bags at the end of the rugby and football matches (once a staple item for dirty clothes and boots in every family car). People were actually using our product, and why wouldn’t they? It’s so simple to use!
We also started to get positive customer feedback. Parents weren’t having to buy new trainers as often because it was so easy to stay on top of the cleaning maintenance.

This led us down a research rabbit hole into plastic bag usage and the amount of footwear that is thrown away to landfill each year. Spoiler alert – the numbers are terrible.
We believe the brand products we create are not just useful for every household, but also bring awareness to environmental factors created by bad habits. The more households that have a Trainer Trash product, the less unnecessary plastic bag use, and the less frequent waste of perfectly good footwear that is discarded far too easily in modern culture.
